Core Sphere - Dance Masterclass Program

Movement is a language worth studying seriously.

Technique is not decoration - it is the foundation every dancer returns to when performance pressure is highest. This program delivers structured, expert-led instruction across twelve weeks, covering the mechanics behind styles that demand both precision and expression.

What the program covers

Twelve weeks split into four distinct technique blocks. Each block targets a specific movement discipline, with the final two weeks dedicated to integrating everything into a short choreographic study.

  • 01

    Foundational Body Mechanics

Weeks 1–3 focus on alignment, weight transfer, and joint articulation. Instructors use slow-motion video feedback to identify habitual compensations that limit range and increase injury risk.

  • 02

    Rhythm and Musicality

Weeks 4–6 address how movement connects to musical phrasing. Participants work with different time signatures and learn to make deliberate choices rather than defaulting to the beat.

  • 03

    Stylistic Technique Intensives

Weeks 7–9 go deep into three contrasting styles - contemporary floor work, partnered social forms, and West African-influenced percussive movement. Each style is taught by its specialist.

  • 04

    Composition and Integration

Weeks 10–12 shift toward application. Participants develop a short solo study using material from the previous blocks, receiving individual written feedback from instructors before the final session.

The people teaching this program

Three instructors with different performance backgrounds and teaching approaches. They were selected because their methods complement rather than repeat each other.

Portrait of Daria Olenyk, contemporary dance instructor

Daria Olenyk

Contemporary Technique

Daria trained in Kyiv and later worked with physical theatre companies in Berlin for six years. Her sessions focus on the relationship between breath and movement initiation - something most dancers are never explicitly taught.

Portrait of Finn Calloway, rhythm and partnered dance instructor

Finn Calloway

Rhythm and Partnered Forms

Finn spent eight years performing and teaching social dance across Australia and South America. He approaches musicality as a practical skill that can be broken down and practised, not an innate quality.

Portrait of Isolde Brennan, percussive movement instructor

Isolde Brennan

Percussive Movement

Isolde holds a research background in West African dance traditions and has taught at conservatoires in Melbourne and Brisbane. Her sessions are demanding and specific - participants often describe them as the most technically challenging of the program.

What participants report after completing the program

These figures come from post-program surveys collected across three cohorts. They reflect self-reported improvement - not guarantees of any specific outcome for future participants.
